Just announced last week at the Paris Auto Show, Renault Sport will start a new promotional racing series in 1999, with the modified version of the new Clio. Unlike what a typical manufacturer might do, which is just lowering the typical econo-box and calling it a racing series, Renault Sport took an interesting route - the engine, a highly modified V6 engine, is moved from the front to the middler.

The Clio Renault Sport evokes the memory of the R5 Turbo. It was exactly twenty years ago, in 1978, that the R5 Turbo was also announced at the Paris Auto Show. Whether Renault has intended an anniversary in releasing the Clio Renault Sport, we don't know. One thing is for sure, though - The Clio Renault Sport will be street-wise. The street version will retain most of the technical features of racing version.
