1957 Abarth 750 Zagato Corsa

1957 Abarth 750 GT Zagato Corsa "Double Bubble"

"I've known about this car for many years. The long term owner has decided to sell. It is a great car with the original matching engine number. The value of this car over the later Double Bubbles is it's elegibility for vintage events that require a 1957 or earlier production date and the special Corsa features. Only a handful of these Abarths are actually old enough to be readily accepted for events such as the Mille Miglia. This one is. This car also has more value than other standard Double Bubble versions as it is a true factory  competition car."

"Abarth built approximately 20 special light weight 750 GT Zagato Corsa versions for racing purposes. Several of these cars competed in important events around the world including the Mille Miglia. The majority of them were either destroyed in battle on the race track or, lost to the ravages of time. This particular example was fortunate to not only have escaped all of this and survived amazingly intact but, to still have the original engine it was born with. Matching number engine on these cars are like 'finding a needle in a haystack' but, this car has it."

"John DeBoer's 'Italian Car Registry' lists less than thirty 1957 or earlier 750 GT Zagato Corsa and non-Corsa combined. It is not known how many of these cars actually exist as complete and drivable cars (not just a pile of parts and a dream). This is one of an extraordinarily limited number of Mille Miglia eligible Abarths. This car would also be eligible and welcomed to enter any top-tier event in the world."

History:

"This is a 'black-plate' California car which the previous owner bought in 1990. He began in earnest a quality restoration, then slowed down when his attention was swayed by other cars and motorcycles in his collection. After the expensive work was completed and ready for final assembly, the car was put into storage and was only pulled out recently. It's engine is rebuilt and running. Virtually everything important has been done. It is ready for final assembly to be one of the best examples of this rare automobile. We have documented most of the car's ownership chain. The early racing history is still being researched."
